We are pleased to inform that last September 15th, Mr. Alfonso Gañán Calvo President of Ingeniatrics was accepted as a Fellow of the American Physical Society upon the recommendation of the Division of Fluidics Dynamics.

The American Physical Society (www.aps.org) is a non-profit membership organization working to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics through its outstanding research journals, scientific meetings, and education, outreach, advocacy and international activities.

D. Alfonso Gañán Calvo Professor of Department of Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics, ESI, University of Seville and inventor of Flow Focusing® technology among others is the first andalucian to be accepted into this organization. This distinction adds to the long list of awards is recognition for his outstanding contributions to physics. The citation will read as follow: “Novel insights, including experiments and theory for molding fluid jets into micro jets using aerodynamic or electrical forces”

The American Physical Society, founded on 1899, strives to:

Be the leading voice and an authoritative source of physics information for the advancement of physics and the benefit of humanity, provide effective programs in support of the physics community, collaborate with national scientific societies for the advancement of science, cooperate with international physics societies to promote physics, promote an active, engaged and diverse membership, and support the activities of its units and members.

From Ingeniatrics, we congratulate Mr. Alfonso Gañán Calvo for his international recognition and his contributions to the microfluidics world.

Ingeniatrics participates in the Targeted disease prophylaxis in European fish farming (Targetfish) by the European Commission 7th Framework programme.
About Ingeniatrics
Tuesday, 23 October 2012 10:31

Targetfish brings together leading European research groups that are experts on the fish immune system and enterprises from the Biotech and Veterinary sectors that aim to commercialize fish vaccines for European fish farming. The project will run for 5 years starting 1st October 2012.

European aquaculture production provides direct employment to 65.000 people with a turnover of 3 billion €. However, the lack of authorised veterinary medicinal products and the consequent disease outbreaks in farmed fish species costs the sector 20% of the production value. The most appropriate method for disease control, both on economical and ethical grounds, is disease prevention by vaccination.

The project will develop targeted vaccination strategies for currently sub-optimal and for novel vaccines. Improved vaccines will be brought closer to industrial application by addressing practical issues such as efficacy, safety and delivery route.

Ingeniatrics will use their Technology Platform in order to microencapsulate the vaccines resulting of the project.
