Joaquin Gomez Moya, CEO at Ingeniatrics, visited on Monday 5th the facilities of the Group of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Seville. This group is led by Mercedes Fernandez Arevalo, vicedean of the University, and has achieved outstanding results in microencapsulation of insulin, for diabetes, and cannabinoids, for pain treatment, among other areas. Now they head towards further co-operation.

Flow Focusing has demonstrated advantageous at medicament microencapsulation for it improves monodispersion, all the microcapsules are of even diameter, is usable for many products and different sizes in the range from one micron to several hundreds micra, and allows a careful handling of said microcapsules.

Mercedes envisions the possibility of extending current cooperation. Nowadays Ingeniatrics affords Mercedes’ group the utilization of its nozzles within research and academic projects. But there’s the possibility that Pharmaceutical Technology Group starts servicing customers what have displayed interest on the Group medicament microencapsulation achievements.

Ingeniatrics Technologies is a world leading company in the field of Flow Focusing microencapsulation and other developments within microfluidics field. It was founded by a group of scientists of the University of Seville on 2001 and recently hired Joaquin Gomez with a view to dramatically scale up its production capacity and to launch its services and brands internationally.
