Smart Fabrics

The textile industry is moving towards the development of innovative and high quality products that are competitive within the new current framework. In this field, we are developing so-called "smart fabrics" and/or “technical fabrics”, materials that respond to known and controlled external stimuli and can have mechanical, thermal, chemical, magnetic properties, etc...

These new properties are often incorporated by adding microencapsulated additives to the fibers, yarns, fabrics, etc… to be used to manufacture the final product. In general, microparticle applications focus on isolation and protection (phase change materials, shape memory materials), conductive materials (metal particles, conductive polymers), active textiles (antimicrobial, cosmetic, home use), medical, etc...
